May 11th Bob LLoyd Tournament
Bronze medal for girls
The morning at Llanfirfechan was glorious, but the hot conditions
made it difficult for all the teams. The girls played very well with a
0-0 opening draw against Mochdre Jaguars and then a very narrow 1-0
defeat against the eventual winners Bethel, this could have been so
differnet as we had a shot right at the end scrape past their post
which would have given us as point. a 2-0 loss to Llanfairfechan put us
into the play off places against the Mochdre Jaguars again. As before
neither side could score and the game went to penalties. Some great
penalties from both sides saw the scores even after the first 5 and
then still level throughout sudden death after all the squads had taken
them! back to the first 5 again and unfortunatley Mochdre secured the
victory. A really good team performance from all the girls throughout
the tournament, well done.
Wednesday 23rd April
Glan Conwy 1 v 1 Mochdre Jaguars (scorer Saffron Bestman)
A full squad and a much better performance against a team that had
beaten llanfair 6-1 a few weeks ago! Despite going a goal down the
girls didnt panic and scored an equaliser in the second half with
Saffrons first goal. This picked them up and although Anna made a great
save we looked the most likely to get a winner.Overall though a fair
result, and a good performance
Sunday 20th April
Glan Conwy 0 v 4 Llanfairfechan
Missing two key players and playing on a muddy pitch the game was
always going to be difficult against a well established Llanfairfechan
side. The girls played well and the score was not really a true picture
as we rather gave away a couple of goals. It did however mean more of a
game for our younger girls and a first game for Alex, which all adds to
their experience with a view to next year.
Sunday 03rd February 2008
Colwyn Bay 2 v 1 Glan Conwy(Lauren Baxter)
A result that does not do justice to the best display from the U12s
all season. We dominated the game for long periods but could not find
the finish in front of goal on a muddy pitch. With Colwyn Bay having an
excellent quick striker they took the result, but the effort and
quality of play from our girls was superb. All 8 girls listened and
played to their positions. Control was overall very good and we always
tried to play football and combine passes even on the difficult
surface. Our equaliser followed a great solo run out of defence by Anna
on the left beating several players before her shot was parried by the
keeper. Lauren kept her cool and controlled the ball well before firing
into the net, her second goal in as many games (we do of course now
expect this every time!). Dont be disappointed by the result (these
things happen) but you should all be pleased with your performances and
we can look forward positively to future games-WELL DONE.
Sunday 06th January 2008
Mochdre Jaguars 1 v 1 Glan Conwy (Lauren Baxter)
The first goal of the season for the U12s and their first point was
a fitting reward for lost of hard work on a very muddy and slippy pitch
at Mochdre. The girls were very unlucky to concede a first half goal
after having so many chances themselves. However they stuck to their
task in the second half and an excellent finish from Lauren gave them
the draw. In a closely fought match the girls had several opportunities
but the mud proved difficult to get a clean strike on the ball in front
of goal. A superb run in the second half from Amy nearly produced a
goal but a draw was probably a fitting result. Again a great effort
from the whole team with the full squad of 12 girls turning up. Well
done to Amy Boswell, Lauren Elgin and Lauren Baxter on their first game
for the club and to ALL 12 girls for a great team effort- Lets keep it
up for the rest of the season.
Sunday 25th November
Llanfairfechan 2 v 0 Glan Conwy
A much improved performance from the U12 girls against a strong
Llanfair team. We were 2-0 down at half time but put up an excellent
second half display keeping the score the same at full time. The girls
were much more aware of their positions and kept working hard all
through the game. Well played everyone.
Sunday 11th November
Glan Conwy 0 v 5 Bethel
The first game for the U12a and the first ever match for many of
the girls unfortunately saw them against a team who have been together
for a while and are probably one of the strongest u12s in the league.
The girls kept things tight for most of the first half but couldnt keep
Bethel at bay. They nearly scored the goal they deserved when first
georgia and then Anna had shots scrambled away by the bethel defence. A
good first game together despite the result
